Product Description
Chicco KeyFit Infant Car Seat and Base It's very rare to find an infant car seat and base which work together so greatly to make the entire installation process easier. The KeyFit Car Seat and Base from Chicco works so well together that it is very different than other car seats. Other car seats don't install half as easily as the Chicco. The KeyFit is a baby car seat which is also affordably priced to not bust wallets. The KeyFit can fit a range of child form 4-30 pounds.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent in the Important Ways   July 23, 2010
Trenna
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

2 months along I'm pretty happy this was the biggest splurge in our baby purchases, and that we rearranged our budget for it (pricey car seat, secondhand baby clothes) rather than buying a cheaper car seat. Considering how long we'll use it, and that it's so highly rated for safety and ease of use, it made more sense than spending a lot elsewhere.

The pros:
-- Highly Rated by Consumer Reports
-- Very easy, even for this car seat newbie
-- LOVE the newborn insert for babies under 10 lbs, since most aftermarket car seat additions for floppy newborns compromise the safety of the seat.
-- The Adventure fabric is indeed more breathable than some others
-- It rocks smoothly! It's easier to put baby to sleep by rocking his car seat on the floor, than in the swing and so on.
-- Little One seems very comfortable in it. It's a preferred napping spot out of the car (just be very aware of the danger of loose straps if you do this; I keep him buckled, or fold the straps underneath, add a blanket, and then put him in the seat.
-- We've had no problems with his head flopping around (from the size of 8.5 lbs, 21")
-- Pops into the base easily, making it simpler to mount it in the middle rear seat

The cons:
-- He does get a little bit sweaty in the seat (even though we ordered Adventure, which Chicco's customer service had said is a more breathable fabric). We combat this with a burp rag flat behind his back for one thin layer of wicking, and with a cloth (cotton) diaper with a wool cover (no synthetics). I can't imagine how uncomfortable he'd be in disposable diapers in it.
-- The canopy does not pull up or down well
-- It's immensely annoying to have to push buttons on both sides of the handle, to move the handle
-- No slot to set it on a grocery cart. True that's not the safest spot for the car seat but it'd be nice to let parents choose. Sometimes I want to set him there for just a minute, when the cart is not moving and nobody is moving near it (like in the checkout line).
-- The additional safety features do make it heavy
-- The base is frequently out of stock so take care to get the spare well before you need it

5 out of 5 stars Amazing quality   July 1, 2010
tulipgirl (Miami)
We bought this car seat three years ago and have used it with two babies now and it's of such amazing quality that we'll use it with our third baby. It honestly still looks as new. It installs easily, looks great, can be cleaned easily and most of all is sturdy and of good quality. Both my daughters loved to fall asleep in it. One of the best purchases we've made!

5 out of 5 stars My wife loved it   June 27, 2010

This is one of the best products we bought for our baby.
All the features are clear and really works.
Before buying it I checked all the similar products and and their respective reviews.
This one had many reviews and with the best average.
And this product deserve it.
Strongly recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Practical   May 29, 2010

We were given the Chicoo Keyfit 30, which comes with one base. We also bought an additional base so we could use the carseat in either my car or my husband's. My daughter is big for her age and she still fits in this at six months. We use it in combination with the Snap and Go Baby Trend Snap N Go-Single Stroller which is an inexpensive and practical solution for transporting baby almost anywhere. This carseat is a little heavier than a lot of the other ones we looked at, but if that's what it takes to make the amazing safety ratings, I'm okay with that. We did get a lighter carseat for my mom's car since she is getting older and the weight is more of an issue for her. Just a side note, in case anyone cares, the orange and gray version of this carseat has much softer fabric than many of the other colors. We love it!!!

4 out of 5 stars great carseat but baby sweats like crazy while in it   May 28, 2010
T. Thiel (Arizona)
The chicco car seats are great - easy to use, high safety ratings, and nice looking. My only complaint about this car seat is that my son sweats like crazy in it. We live at 7,000ft so not in a warm climate by any means - houses where we live don't even have AC. I could not imagine how much he'd sweat in a warm or humid climate. Even after short rides in a well ventilated cool car his head totally soaks the head rest and the back of his shirt is totally soaked through. Going to look at other options for our next baby as our son loves his car seat and going for rides until he is soaking in sweat.
