4 out of 5 stars Some flaws, but still love this stroller   June 2, 2010

Like everyone else, I looked around for a while for the right stroller. I wanted something lightweight, easy to use, comfortable, and durable. I also wanted one that reclines well. This stroller really meets all those needs.

PROS:
1. Folds like an umbrella stroller so it doesn't take up a lot of space.
2. Its lightweight, so that, plus the umbrella fold makes it really easy to get in and out of the car. It also has a closing latch and handle so it you can pick it up without it opening on you. I haven't had any problem with the latch, as some people have stated. Works great. Handle is great. Perfect for traveling.
3. It's easy enough to open and close. Some people have said the levers are hard to use, but i think they're fine. The only problem is kicking #2 with sandals on, but in those circumstances I use my hand - not a big deal. (it's not the stroller fault i have sandals on)
4. I like these style handles instead of a bar across the back; you can hang bags, etc, on them.
5. The basket underneath is bigger than other umbrella style strollers.
6. The seat seems really comfortable and roomy. And the straps are easy to use & have padding.
7. I haven't used it yet, but the rain cover seems cool.
8. It reclines far.
9. It has a high weight limit.
10. The parent storage pocket is useful for keys, phone, receipts, etc.

CONS:(as many others have already stated)
1. When you fold it, the wheels touch the canopy. If the wheels are dirty - the canopy gets dirty. (although it usually wipes clean easily)
2. The canopy is small and you can't push it forward.
3. There is no tray and the child cupholder on the side sucks. Ok for pacifier use though.
4. There is only 1 parent cupholder, but we bought an aftermarket one we can attach when we want it.

Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend this stroller.

5 out of 5 stars Genius European Engineering   May 27, 2010

It's awesome. I've been using it for 4 months. We researched travel systems for 4 days when I was pregnant. I was registered for a Chicco, but we tested and it was WAY too heavy and bulky for me. I'm petite (5'0) and the Perle is easy for me to maneuver. We travel a lot and wanted something light, compact and multifunctional. The other brands require a bulky stroller, a wire frame for quick shopping trips and an umbrella stroller for airports. We refused to spend money on three strollers. The Perle is a lightweight travel system and an umbrella stroller in one.

The Maxi Cosi Mico carseat snaps in and we used it for outings our baby's first week. There is a cup holder for you and another for the baby's sippy cup when they are older. The canopy has snaps on the outside that snap down and keep the canopy stable. I live in FL and use it all the time to keep the sun off of my baby. They are discreet and I didn't discover them until I had the stroller for two months. Go on YouTube for a demo video demonstrating the carseat/stroller. I tell all of my friends about Maxi Cosi. It's European engineering and it's a million times better and at least 10 pounds lighter than a Graco or Chicco stroller. The only drawback is that the matching carseat in Penguin is hard to find and the Perle stroller is always sold out. We have the Penguin set and it's very gender neutral, chic and stylish for modern couples that aren't into cartoon kid prints.

3 out of 5 stars Maxi Cosi Perle   September 1, 2009

After almost a year of researching and trying out different strollers, we've purchased the Maxi Cosi Perle. We were excited the first couple of times using it but quickly realized a few major flaws. Canopy, tilts up therefore provides very little sun protection. Folding mechanism: umbrella fold but the part you use your feet to push up, it hurts. Basket: hard to get to from back. Reclining: about 120 degree. Adjustable foot rest? Where's the adjustment. The wheels gets pebbles lodged in it easily. The stroller was much heavier than we expected. Locking mechanism doesn't always work. We were very disappointed. We want to like it. PROS: traditional sleek look, especially with Penguin colors. Sturdy, well made (just a few design flaws). Rain cover is nice. Padding with the straps and buckle. Cup holder a plus! If you're on the fence about this stroller, check it out first.

3 out of 5 stars Good Lightweight Stroller   August 1, 2009
Pavithra Mandappa (Chicago, Illinois United States)
We bought this stroller with the Maxi Cosi infant car seat and have used both extensively during the past few months. Overall the stroller fulfils the need for convenience and ease because of it's umbrella style; however, it has some cons too. As another reviewer commented, the stroller feels very open because there is no snack tray in front, especially when your baby is younger. My daughter always looks tiny and sort of flopped over to a side when the seat is straight up. On the plus side, the stroller is easy to fold up and has a conveniently placed handle that you can use to lift it up. This comes in handy when you have to put it in the trunk of a car or get it off a conveyer belt in an airport. The lock is hard to undo when the stroller is straight, but I usually lay the stroller on the ground and then pull it open. Works better for me. This is also possible to do one-handed...great when you have a squirmy baby in the other. The stroller has limited manouverability on uneven sidewalks and over grass...we also bought a BOB which we prefer to use for long walks etc. The Perle is great in a mall or otherwise smooth surface. My daughter naps happily in it so it must be pretty comfortable.

About this stroller, it is very lightweight and has a very compact fold. Reclines all the way so my child can sleep laying down. It has lots and lots of space for my child to grow with it. It also has an adjustable legrest. It rolls well. It has a carry handle so that when it's folded you can carry it and it is very lightweight to carry as well. I am 5'0" and weigh 112 lbs and this stroller is light enough for me to carry with no problems. It stood well and sturdy when I hung my fully filled medium diaper bag on the handle part.

Here some downs about the stroller...well at least for me...
The lock is hard to unlock when standing up. I always have to lay it down then pull the lock apart to open up the stroller. I didn't like how the recline was done by pulling the string on the back. It was hard for me to adjust the recline with my child in it still. I very much like the Chicco Trevi's reclining system better. The canopy is very big which is good, but I woulda liked it to be able to pull forward in front of the child, but no it stays in place. The child cup holder is not impressing. It's flimsy would not be of much use. I wish there was a tray in front because without it the stroller seems very opened but this isn't so much of a problem; just a preference.

The good thing is that this stroller can also be used as a travel system with the Maxi Cosi Mico Infant carseat considering how light and compact it is. I do not have the carseat as I have no use for it right now, but when next baby comes along I would like to get the carseat. One negative I have read about the carseat is that it does not snap onto shopping carts...and I do often shop too so that might pose a negative for me.

I haven't even opened the rainshield bag so can't review on that. It's sunny over here so no need for the rainshield. But then again I wouldn't take my child strolling in the rain anyways. hehe

Overall, this stroller works well for me out of the few that I have purchased before. I am satisfied with it as my main wants and needs in a stroller were lightweight, compact and full reclining seat. If you're looking for the same, I'm sure you won't be let down with this decent product.
